Microsoft UPS Service FAQs
- With the computer and the UPS off, connect the serial cable that was included with the unit to an open serial port on the computer.
- Turn the UPS on and start the computer.
- Once the computer has started, click on start, then control panel.

In the control panel, double-click on power options.

Click the UPS tab.

Click the select button
- Set the manufacturer to Generic.
- Select the COM port that the UPS is connected to.
- Click on Custom so it is highlighted.

Click the next button.
- Set the UPS Signal polarity as shown below.
- Click the finish button

Click the configure button.

Seconds between power failure and first notification -
This is the time between when the power fails and the UPS starts beeping.
Seconds between subsequent power failure notifications - This is the time between beeps during a power failure - Minutes on battery before critical alarm - This determines how long the UPS will run before the operating system starts to shut down. If left blank, the unit will run until there is approximately 2 minutes of backup time remaining, then the operating system will start to shut down.
- Next, instruct the computer to: - Leave as " Shut Down".
- Finally, turn off the UPS. - If checked, this will allow the UPS to be turned off automatically once the operating system is shut down.
- Click the OK button
- Click the Apply button
