Macintosh / Apple
Apple's OS X operating platform has a direct interface for UPS devices and utilize Apple's Energy Saver power management software. This software has the capability of reducing energy consumption and is compatible with all CyberPower UPS systems that feature an HID compliant USB port. For a list of CyberPower UPS's that feature HID, see below section "HID Compliant Systems." For help configuring your CyberPower UPS with Apple's Energy Saving software, click here.
- Compatibility: OS X 10.4.1+ with Intel Chipsets. HID compliant USB port is required on the CyberPower UPS.
Linux
Utilizing PowerPanel for Linux™ is the most convenient method of establishing communication between a Linux box and our UPS systems. This software can be used with any CyberPower UPS product that has either a USB or Serial port.
Another method involves utilizing the HID compliant USB port, which is found on newer designs of CyberPower UPS units. This allows operating systems that can utilize HID Power Class devices to control the UPS using their native power manager. Information on the Power Device Class standards can be found at USB.org. There are also independent means to use your CyberPower UPS with Linux via the Network UPS Tools (NUT) project. To see their compatible models, please visit their Compatibility List. At this time, there are no OEM Linux drivers available from CyberPower for any of the UPS systems.
HID Compliant Systems
CyberPower UPS systems that have HID compliant USB ports are easily found via the "Specs" tab located on each individual product page. Compatible devices will have a "Yes" next to the box that reads "USB HID Compliant UPS," which is located under the Management and Communications section. See below for sample.
