Home Office Surge Protection

P300WURC2 | Home Office Surge Protection
Protect home and office computers, electronics, and home theater equipment

Product Overview

The CyberPower Home Office Surge Protector P300WURC2 prevents spikes in energy caused by storms and electrical power surges from reaching  your office equipment such as laptops, small electronics, and chargers. The P300WURC2 provides 600 joules of protection and 3 AC outlets (standard) with a single wall tap plug. Two USB ports (2.1 Amp) quickly charge USB-powered devices, including tablets.

Features of the P300WURC2 include automatic shutdown, an EMI/RFI noise filter, metal oxide varistor (MOV) technology, surge protection LED indicator (Protected), damage-resistant housing, and an optional anchoring screw. This surge suppressor comes with a Limited Lifetime Warranty and a $50,000 Connected Equpment Warranty.

  • Surge Protection
Diverts excess voltage away from sensitive electronic equipment during an AC power surge or power spike to prevent damage.
  • Automatic Shutdown
Protects connected electronics with the integrated circuit breaker which automatically switches off in the event of an overload that exceeds the model's ability to suppress the signal.
  • EMI/RFI Noise Filter
Maintains clean power for connected equipment by filtering out electromagnetic and radio frequency interference to improve picture and sound quality.
  • Metal Oxide Varistor (MOV) Technology
Allows normal current to pass through the device, while diverting any surges/spikes through the ground circuit, to safeguard connected electronics and the surge suppressor.
  • USB Charging Ports
Charge and power USB devices such as tablets (including iPad), smartphones, MP3 players, and other mobile accessories.
  • Wall Tap Plug
Fits into a wall outlet; no power cord required.
  • LED Indicator
Illuminates to show surge protection status (Protected).
  • Damage-Resistant Housing
Ensures maximum durability and prolongs the life of the model.
  • Connected Equipment Warranty— CyberPower will repair or replace properly connected equipment if it is damaged by a power surge.
  • Limited Lifetime Warranty
Covers defects in materials and workmanship in the product under normal use and conditions. See warranty for details.

Why Do I Need A Surge Protector?

Utility power supplied to electrical outlets is sometimes inconsistent. The short-duration voltage surges or spikes that occasionally happen can damage components in electronic devices such as computers and workstations. In addition to equipment damage, irretrievable data loss may occur. In the U.S., the nominal or standard voltage supplied to household and office wiring is 120 volts. A voltage surge or spike can cause electronic components to overheat, either immediately destroying them or causing permanent damage that can lead to premature failure.

A surge protector or surge suppressor provides protection against power surges. This device is located in the power circuit between the utility power outlet and the connected electronic equipment. Surge protectors work by diverting excess voltage to the ground, allowing only the nominal voltage to travel through the wiring to connected devices. This is accomplished using a variable resistance component in the surge protector called a metal oxide varistor (MOV). Under normal voltage conditions, the resistance of the MOV is such that it remains closed. As utility voltage increases beyond nominal, the MOV resistance decreases accordingly which forces the unwanted overvoltage to ground, maintaining a constant flow of nominal voltage to sensitive electronic equipment.

If my surge protector has a ground light, should it be illuminated (green)?

Yes. The ground indicator light should be illuminated. If the light is not illuminated, there is a problem with the AC outlet into which the CyberPower surge suppressor is plugged. If this is the case, please disconnect the surge suppressor until the problem is resolved. The problem must be resolved before the CyberPower surge suppressor can be used.

Common issues with an AC outlet include: bad ground, missed ground, or reversed wiring (usually due to sub-standard wiring, typical in residential housing built prior to 1980). You may need to contact a qualified electrician to repair/upgrade the outlet.

NOTE: Using the CyberPower surge suppressor when the ground indicator light is not illuminated will void the warranty.
