Advanced Power Strips, or APS, are energy-saving devices that protect your electronics by absorbing spikes in energy.
An APS saves energy and money by removing the electricity your device uses when it is plugged in and turned off. This is known as "vampire" or standby power.
CyberPower offers an APS in two different tiers: Tier 1 and Tier 2. Choosing which tier is right for you depends on where you want to use it. Each Tier is designed to conserve energy in different environments.
Tier 1 is designed for a home office or theatre environment.
It has 1 Master Outlet, 3 Always-On, and 3 Energy-Saving Outlets.
In a home office, the desktop computer is plugged into the Master Outlet. Other office equipment, such as a monitor and ink-jet printer are plugged into the energy-saving outlets. A modem or router are plugged into one of the Always-on Outlets.
When the master outlet detects that the device in the master outlet has been turned off, it cuts power to the energy-saving outlets, while powering the always-on outlet.
Tier 2 is designed for a home theater environment.
CyberPower’s Tier 2 APS is the HT705GR and has 5 energy-saving outlets, 2 always-on outlets, and a smart infrared sensor.
The television and other home theater equipment are plugged into the Energy-Saving outlets while the cable box and DVR are plugged into the Always-On Outlets.
The smart infrared sensor is attached to the bottom of the TV in the sightline of the remote and monitors every time the remote is used
An hour after the last use of the remote, a blue LED light will flash for 15 minutes.
For the television to continue operating, a button on the remote must be used.
If the smart sensor does not receive a signal from the remote after 15 minutes, it will trigger the APS to turn off the energy-saving outlets.
No matter what your power needs are, you will limit your energy consumption, reduce your carbon footprint, and lower your energy bills with CyberPower, your Ultimate Ally in Power.
