Safety, Efficiency, and Power Inverters

A power inverter changes direct current (DC) to alternating current (AC), but does not produce the power, itself. These inverters provide portable, efficient power, are convenient to use, and versatile of purpose. Power inverters from CyberPower convert automobile DC power to AC power to rapidly charge and power laptop computers, tablets (including iPads), MP3 players, and other USB mobile devices. They also supply surge protection to safeguard electronic equipment.

Our power inverters offer many features for safety and efficiency, including automatic shutdown, built-in surge protection, and soft start technology. For more information about these and other features, see the user manual or Web page for the specific power inverter that you want to use.

NOTE: Features vary by model.

Automatic-Shutdown ensures that the power inverter automatically turns off to prevent your battery from draining.

Built-in Surge Protection safeguards electronics against power fluctuations, such as those which occur during vehicle startup and shutdown.

Sensitive Electronics Safety Features provide surge protection and automatic shutdown to guard electronics against power fluctuations, temperature extremes, short circuits, and high or low battery conditions.

Soft Start Technology protects electronics against power fluctuations.

Why is my power inverter not working?

Problem:

No AC output power

Possible Causes:

1. Poor contact with the DC power outlet.

2. The vehicle’s electrical system requires ignition to be on.

3. The vehicle’s DC power outlet fuse is blown.

4. Over-heating of the power inverter.

5. The vehicle’s battery voltage is below 11 volts.

6. The vehicle’s battery input voltage is greater than 15 volts.

7. You overloaded your power inverter.

Suggested Solutions:

  1. Poor contact with the DC power outlet.
  • Ensure the power inverter is securely plugged into your vehicle’s DC power outlet. If not, replace the DC power outlet if necessary.
  1. The vehicle’s electrical system requires the ignition to be turned on.
  • Turn the vehicle’s ignition to the “Accessory” position.
  1. The vehicle’s DC power outlet fuse is blown.
  • Check the vehicle fuse panel and replace the damaged fuse.
  1. Over-heating of the power inverter.
  • Allow inverter to cool. Ensure that there is adequate ventilation around the unit and load does not exceed the unit’s Continuous Power rating (see specifications).
  1. The vehicle’s battery voltage is below 11 volts.
  • First, unplug the power inverter.
  • Second, start the vehicle to charge the battery.
  1. The vehicle’s battery input voltage is greater than 15 volts.
  • Check your vehicle’s manual for troubleshooting.
  1. You overloaded your power inverter.
  • Ensure the load does not exceed the unit’s Continuous Power rating (see specifications)
