Product Overview

The CyberPower SE450B uninterruptible power supply (UPS) system provides surge protection for lightning-induced surges and other power events that can damage electronic equipment. This unit delivers enough battery backup to connected electronics during a utility power failure, so you can perform a proper shutdown to protect against the loss of data and damage to valuable electronics including computers, gaming consoles, and broadband routers. Including a sleek new design, this UPS is perfect for all your home office and entertainment needs.

With a $100,000 connected equipment guarantee and a three-year warranty, you can trust CyberPower’s commitment to the quality of this Battery Backup with Surge Protection.

  • Battery Backup
Supplies power long enough for equipment to properly shut down when utility power fails. Helps prevent loss of data and minimizes the component stress caused by a hard shutdown.
  • Surge Protection
Diverts excess voltage away from sensitive electronic equipment during an AC power surge or power spike to prevent damage.
  • Widely Spaced Outlets
The widely-spaced outlets allow you to conveniently add transformer-sized plugs without blocking other outlets.
  • ENERGY STAR
This model is an ENERGY STAR® certified Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) system. ENERGY STAR is the trusted, government-backed symbol for energy-efficient products and practices that help save money and protect the environment.
  • GreenPower UPS™ High-Efficiency Design
Reduces power consumption by utilizing a compact charger and power inverter to create an ultra-efficient backup power system for home and office use.
  • Simulated Sine Wave Output
Provides a manufactured waveform output to supply cost-effective battery backup power for equipment that does not require sine wave output.
  • Three-Year Warranty
CyberPower will replace a defective UPS system (including batteries) within three years of the purchase date. See warranty for details.
  • Connected Equipment Guarantee
CyberPower will repair or replace properly connected equipment if it is damaged by a power surge.

GreenPower UPS Technology: High-Efficiency Design

GreenPower UPS™ Technology from CyberPower improves operating efficiency, reduce heat generation, and consume less power than conventional UPS models.

High-Efficiency Design significantly decreases power consumption to create an ultra-efficient backup battery for home and office use.

Transformers and Transformer Outlets

A transformer converts alternating current line voltage to a higher value or a lower value. Transformers rely upon electromagnetic induction, the process which occurs when the alternating current within a circuit generates current in a nearby circuit.

Transformers vary in design and size, as well as using different amounts of current. Small transformers plug into a wall outlet and create low direct current voltages which are used by common electronic devices. Transformer outlets are more widely spaced than other outlets to accommodate transformer block adapters or other adapters that are large in size. Transformer outlets can be used to connect any appropriate device to a surge protector.

What does the Wiring-Fault Indicator light mean?

What is the Wiring-Fault Indicator?

The LED indicator will illuminate red to warn the user that a wiring problem exists, such as bad ground, missing ground or reversed wiring.

What is bad ground?

If your CyberPower unit shorts out or there is a surge/spike in power, it can become a fire hazard by not properly grounding the wire to the earth ground that is connected to your house.

What is missing ground?

A missing ground can cause electrical shock.

What is reversed wiring?

This is caused by the hot and neutral wires being reversed in the wall outlet.

Solutions to try and diagnose the problem:

Try connecting the CyberPower unit into another outlet. If the wiring-fault light indicator is still illuminated contact an electrician to correct the problem with the faulty wall outlet.

If the indicator is illuminated red

What is the difference between the Battery/Surge outlets and the Surge outlets?

Many CyberPower UPS units have two sets of outlets. One set is labeled “Battery/Surge” and one set is labeled “Surge”. The outlets labeled “Battery/Surge” are the outlets that will receive battery power during a power failure. You should plug your computer and monitor into these outlets and any externally powered critical data storage device.

Items such as printers, speakers, scanners, and faxes should be plugged into the outlets labeled “Surge.” These outlets are intended for low priority electronics that are not essential to the PC’s main operation.
